Accounts & Server Setup

Important account details you need before starting your TMNF or TMUF server.

How do I create a server login?+

Go to the TrackMania Forever Player Page and create a server login under the "Servers" tab: https://players.trackmaniaforever.com/

What is my Validation Code?+

It is the last 3 digits of your Player Key.

What is my Master Admin Login?+

It is the login name you specified when you first installed the game.

Why do we need your contact information?+

It is used for panel access, account recovery and admin support.

Server nation: what is this?+

It is the ISO-3166-1 alpha-3 country code showing your server location. Example: GER for Germany, CHE for Switzerland, NLD for Netherlands.

Where can I find the full TMNF setup guide?+

You can check the full TMNF FAQ overview here: https://slikz.dev/faq/tmnf#overview

Overview

The Overview tab is the main control room for your TMNF or TMUF server.

What can I do on the Overview page?+

On Overview you can start and stop the dedicated server and also start, stop or restart the controller. You can also see the most important live information, such as the current map, server IP, server status and whether players are currently online.

Where do I find my server IP and important server data?+

Open your server in the panel and check the Overview tab. The most important connection and status information is shown there so you do not have to search through config files.

Can I see if players are on the server?+

Yes. If the server is reachable, the Overview area can show player activity and useful live state information. If the server or controller is offline, live data may not be available.

Do I need a server account for TMNF / TMUF?+

Yes. TrackMania Nations Forever and TrackMania United Forever need a TrackMania Forever server login. Create it on the official TrackMania Forever Player Page under the Servers tab before starting your server.

Maps

The Maps area helps you upload, view and organize the maps on your server.

What can I do in the Maps tab?+

In the Maps tab you can upload maps, view your existing maps, manage MatchSettings and check what is currently available on your server. It is the easiest place to work with maps without using SSH.

What does Disk mean in the Maps area?+

Disk shows all maps that physically exist on your server across all map folders. This is useful when you only want to check which maps are uploaded, even if they are not currently active in a MatchSettings file.

What is MS or MatchSettings Manager?+

MS means MatchSettings Manager. There you can create, view, load and manage different MatchSettings files. A MatchSettings file controls which maps and settings the server should use.

Why is my uploaded map not active in-game?+

Uploading a map only places it on the server. The map may still need to be added to the active MatchSettings, loaded through the MatchSettings Manager or the server/controller may need a restart or reload.

Modes

Modes control how the server behaves in-game.

What can I change under Modes?+

Under Modes you can change gameplay settings such as TimeAttack, Rounds and other supported mode options. These settings define how players race on your server.

Should I change mode settings if I am not sure?+

Only change mode settings when you understand what they do. Wrong mode settings can make the server feel broken or confusing for players.

Create a backup before bigger changes, especially if you are changing multiple settings at once.

Players

The Players area is used to manage players and permissions.

What can I do under Players?+

Under Players you can manage players on the server and, depending on your permissions, assign roles such as user, operator or admin.

What is the difference between user, operator and admin?+

A normal user has basic access. An operator can usually perform moderation or server actions. An admin has more powerful permissions. Only give operator or admin rights to people you fully trust.

Can I remove permissions again?+

Yes, if your role allows it. Be careful when changing permissions because giving the wrong person admin access can cause damage to your server setup.

Controller

The controller handles server features like plugins, records and automation.

Can I change the server controller?+

Yes. Go to Settings, open the Controller area and choose the controller you want to use. Be careful: changing the controller can affect controller-specific data, configs, plugins or databases.

Always create a backup before changing the controller. Your current database or controller data may be lost or changed.
Should I start the server or controller first?+

Start the dedicated server first. Once the server is running, start the controller. If the controller cannot connect, restart it after the server is fully online.

Plugins

Plugins extend your controller and add extra features to your server.

How do I install plugins?+

Use the plugin installer in the panel. Open your server, go to Plugins, select the plugin you want and click install. No stress, no manual copying if the plugin is supported by the installer.

Can I copy plugins manually?+

Advanced users can use the file manager, but the recommended way is the plugin installer. Manual copying is easy to mess up if files are placed into the wrong controller folder.

What should I do if a plugin does not work?+

Check the Logs tab first. Look for plugin errors, missing files, database errors or controller messages. If you cannot fix it, contact support and send the exact error lines.

Files

The Files area gives you browser access to the server file system.

Where are my server files?+

Open your server and go to Files, then File System. There you can browse folders, upload files, replace files and manage your server data from the browser.

What is the File editor?+

The 📁 File editor lets you browse, upload, rename, move and edit server files. Always check the Path / display at the top before editing or uploading, because it shows the current folder.

Can I edit config files?+

Yes, where editing is available. Be careful with important config files. Wrong values can stop the server or controller from starting.

Create a backup before changing important config files.
Can I upload maps through Files?+

Yes. You can upload maps through the file system, but using the Maps area is usually easier because it is built for map management.

Settings

The Settings area contains server details and important configuration options.

Where can I change the server name?+

Go to Settings and open Server Details. There you can edit the server name that players see in the in-game server browser.

Where can I change the server comment?+

Go to Settings, then Server Details. The comment is the text shown to players in-game in the server browser. Edit it there and save your changes.

Why do I need to press Save?+

Changes in Settings are not applied until you press Save. If you leave the page without saving, your changes may be lost.

Always press Save after changing server details.

Start parameters

Start parameters define how the dedicated server starts.

What can I change under Start Parameters?+

You can change dedicated server start options and the start MatchSettings file. These options control how your TMNF or TMUF server boots.

Should I change start parameters?+

If you are not sure, leave them on default. The default values are set so your server can run smoothly and without problems.

Wrong start parameters can stop your server from starting correctly.
Can I change the start MatchSettings?+

Yes, but only do it if you know which MatchSettings file should be loaded. If the file is wrong or missing, the server may not start as expected.

Access

The Access tab contains connection data and extra access tools.

Where do I find FTP data?+

Open your server and go to Access. If FTP is available for your service, the panel shows your FTP connection data there.

Where do I find MySQL or phpMyAdmin data?+

Open the Access tab. If your package includes MySQL, you can find the database details and phpMyAdmin access there.

Can I enable the server viewer?+

Yes. In the Access tab you can enable the server viewer if the option is available. This can make server information available for public views or widgets.

Logs

Logs are the first place to check when something does not work.

Where do I check errors?+

Open your server and go to Logs. There you can check server, controller and plugin errors. The newest lines are usually the most important.

What should I do if the server does not start?+

Check Logs first. Look for missing files, wrong configs, map errors, controller errors or database issues. If you cannot solve it, contact support.

How should I contact support?+

Contact support as clearly as possible. Send your server name or ID, explain what you clicked, what you expected, what happened and include the newest log lines.

Renew & Delete

This area is for extending or removing your server.

Where can I renew my server?+

Use the Renew area in the panel to extend your server. Renew before the service expires if you want to keep your server online and avoid interruptions.

Can I delete my server?+

Yes, if the option is available. But be extremely careful: when you delete your server, it is gone.

If you delete your server, your data may be permanently lost. Even support may not be able to restore it. Always create and download a backup before deleting anything.
What is the most important rule before risky actions?+

Always create a backup first. If something is gone, it is gone. A backup is the only safe way to protect your files before changes, controller switches, map edits or deletion.

Support

Still stuck?

Check the Logs tab first. If you still cannot solve it, contact support with your server ID, exact issue and the newest log lines. The more exact your message is, the faster support can help.
